The dramatic story of Juwon's wardrobe
Tumblr media
In Beyond Evil, there is so much attention to detail that even the characters' clothing looks loaded with meaning. This is especially true for Juwon. He is a very closed hero and changes in appearance are a good way to show his inner dynamics.
The first time we see Juwon in an expensive but formal suit.
Tumblr media
I want to note one point - the suit, although it looks stylish, is boring. This outfit is not so much for asserting superiority as a refuge, a case. Compare this to Han Gihwan, who always tries to look spectacular.
Tumblr media
Another detail is that Juwon almost never wears ties, unlike his father and Hyuk. In the first half of the drama, he walks with an open throat all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This can be a manifestation of rebelliousness, hidden vulnerability (willingness to open the throat of a potential enemy), or maybe his breathing problems due to suppressed anxiety.
Tumblr media
Juwon's change starts … with the boots. After surviving a panic attack and making a public statement about serial murders, he arrives in Dongsik's basement wearing soiled boots. And he doesn't even notice it.
Tumblr media
By Episode 7, Juwon is changing the narrow jacket for a more spacious raincoat. And since then, he has never changed the style of clothing-tent. He became more aware of his feelings and the need for freedom and space became more obvious.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
During his three-month vacation, Juwon seems to have completely come to terms with the dirt - he doesn't even shake it off. And pay attention to the shoes!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
In the first half of the series, Juwon's clothes were more of a protective case. After his vacation, he returns to rebel and impress.
Tumblr media
And it changes not only the style of clothing, but also the hairstyle.
Tumblr media
After Nam Sanbae's death, Juwon returns to his low-key style again. But the colors appear warmer and softer, and even the texture of the fabric itself creates a softer image.
Tumblr media
The investigation gets closer and closer to his father, becomes personal - and Juwon begins to close his throat. His desire to warm up and take cover is almost palpable.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
In the famous arrest scene, Juwon has the softest and lightest image. Here he relies on the other trusting himself in the hands of Dongsik. Although the chunky knit turtleneck sweater is a bit like chain mail.
Allusions to a knight and a bride in one image are a very typical combination for Juwon.
Tumblr media
After falling to his knees in the rain, Juwon reverts to his style until Episode 9. Simpler and more open. He no longer defends himself.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
This wardrobe story ends with "paired" outfits. Like Yin and Yang

Round 3, Match 16: Satoru Gojo vs. Xie Lian
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Submitted kids:
Saruto Gojo: Tsumiki Fushiguro, Megumi Fushiguro, Yuuji Itadori, Nobara Kugisaki, Yuuta Okkotsu, the other second year students to some extent
Xie Lian: Ban Yue, Pei Xiu, Lang Ying, Lian Quianqiu, Gu Zi, Lang Ying
Propaganda under the cut!
Satoru Gojo:
“became a single father of 2 at the age of 19. Helped Yuuji fake his death and hid him in his basement for months”
Xie Lian:
1. “a several centuries old disgraced god who keeps somehow getting mixed up in things that have nothing to do with him and taking in random kids in the process. Got dragged into being a soldier in a war between kingdoms he's not even from? suddenly single dad to these two random kids caught up in between. dealing with a malicious ghost who has been killing brides? boom, now he has a ghost son whose previous guardian was killed by the malicious ghost. psychotic ghost cousin posses the body of a man with a young son and continues being a piece of shit? well i guess your taking care of that kid too now (i know guzi is technically qi rong's kid since he's the one possessing his actual dad but if it weren't for xie lian intervening when he did the kid would be dead so he kinda counts too)”
2. “Xie Lian saves a young LQQ from being kidnapped, returns him home and end up becoming the/his grand tutor(which was NOT his original plan at all). He literally teaches the boy everything for years, raising him to become the best ruler he could ever be. The XL ends up accused for killing his family (because of a lot of different things) what is important is that he was not the perpetrator but he did kill LQQ’s father in an act to save the boy from making a horrible decision/outcome and also dealt with the actual perpetrators but kept it a secret cause he knew it would break LQQ’s heart to learn his dear friend planned to kill him and his entire family. LQQ took this betrayal by XL so hard he buried him after staking him through the heart when he was still alive. 300 years later when XL returns/is revealed LQQ is still not over it to the point he wants a FAIR duel to settle the score. FAIR with the man he still thinks killed his entire family!
Banyue and Pei Su are connected. XL took BY under his wing while he was a soldier in the army. He did his best to protect her and get her fed as she had pretty much no one. He also talked with her about his younger selfs dreams for the future which was so inspiring to her that not only did she remember it over a century later when they meet again in very different circumstances but she also apologized for essentially not being able to live up to the ideals he had accidentally passed on to her. While he didn’t have as much direct contact with Pei Su, the boy was BY’s only friend and so while XL was around he did also interact with the boy. However this all came to an end when in an attempt to save BY (which succeeded) he through himself in between two armies and was trampled when they began to fight. When they meet again (as I previously mentioned) XL takes BY under his safety until he is not safe and then sends her off to a safe place where she reunites with PS, who for all XL doesn’t give the same amount of attention to, XL does actually approve of some of him (not all his actions) and seems to find it cute that PS is courting BY.
XL meets Lang Ying first when he helps the boy burry his proxy sister, LY ends up running off after XL reacted with shock to LY’s uncovered face, but XL keeps a constant search for him. XL next saves him from getting beat up by ghosts and ends up taking him to live with him in the shrine he lives in. He does his best to take care of both LY and Gu Zi at the shrine and keeps his good treatment up even knowing LY’s a ghost it only ends when (spoilers for non book people, feel free to look up if you want to know).
XL takes in GZ mostly as his ghost cousin (whom he arrested) has taken over the body of the boy’s father. While I’m not sure how much this one counts, especially since by the end his cousin ends up caring for GZ, but he still does the best he can to feed and care for the boy as his entire life changes.”

NEW BOOK! CHRISTMAS HORROR!
I don't want to promise I'm back and then not stick around again, in case I don't, but I had a ton of success promoting my previous two Julie anthologies here (even resulting in fan art!), the first place I ever grew any kind of platform. Of course, with the Julie books being anthologies, no, you do not need to read anything else to understand what's going on in this book.
A JULIE CAROL is a festive collection of novellas about my favorite dry-witted, gleefully evil, charming-but-unsympathetic slasher. Having a crisis of faith on Christmas Eve, believing she's lost the passion for the work, Julie is given glimpses of the past, present, and future that challenge her perception of herself, including:"First Fumble," how she dropped the ball on her original crime spree, leading to her arrest, "The Protege" where she meets a burgeoning serial killer in a bustling boardwalk town and takes the girl under her wing to steer her in the wrong direction, and "Bride of Julie" in which this monster finally gets what she deserves: happiness.
I just needed to take a moment to promote this. This is a lot of book to give away for one dollar (Kindle, at least, paperback is $6.99) but it's because I'm incredibly proud and I really, really want people to read it.
You can buy it here!

Roth's new bio ( VER-2 )
Among the living, Roth ( Marion ) Kruger was a mordacious, contemptuous jerk. Damnation made him worse.
Roth’s life was a nightmare of circumstances, outside his control. Abandoned by his parents, Roth became a ward to the state at eight years old. He spent his childhood at Saint Emiliani Orphanage, in New York City. Eventually, Roth was aged out from the system, thrusting him into the world. Despite his rough upbringing, Roth wanted to make something out of himself.
Yet, failure was his only option. The first domino was being framed for plagiarism at New York University, by someone he once considered a friend. Despite his pleas, Roth’s protest fell on deaf ears. He was ushered out, blacklisted to further his humiliation. From there, Roth’s life spiraled out of control.
Struggling for work, Roth found employment with the checker cab company. The job, though grueling, kept Roth above water to survive. Around this time, he collected a group of friends, notably Nina Roberston and Scott Holden. Nina was a self-made fashion designer living in Harlem, whom Roth dated. Nina was the light in his life, a reminder that there’s still good. Scott was a troubled veteran, who was disgraced after it was revealed he shared information with his North Vietnamese captors. This “betrayal” was to save a wounded comrade, whom The Vietnamese were withholding medicine from. It was Scott’s fate that eventually broke Roth.
After a heated argument, Roth abandoned Scott at a bar. Scott was forced to walk home, where he was accosted by two NYPD officers. Without much provocation,  the officers started beating Scott for “resisting arrest”. Scott though, managed to fight back and try to escape, not wanting to hurt anyone. For his trouble, he was shot. The bullet pierced his back and paralyzed him. Scott later died during surgery, when doctors tried removing the slug from his spinal cord.
Nina was the first to tell Roth, which devastated him. Unable to process the grief and regret, Roth suffered a nervous breakdown. In his madness, he took out his pain and frustration out on Nina. The result left her heartbroken. On that night, Roth lost all his friends and his religion. Proclaiming that, there’s no God. Roth’s erratic behavior saw him fired from his job, losing his apartment and becoming an outcast.
In 1979, of that same year, Roth was murdered.
At night, Roth was on the Brooklyn bridge. He had nothing left, no friends, no home, and no hope for the future. There, he struggled to jump. Someone came along, to choose for him. The Wire, an infamous serial killer, ambushed Roth on the bridge. Despite the surprise, Roth fought back with every inch of his life. Unfortunately, The Wire won in the end.
Roth was thrown over the bride, landing into the freezing waters below. The impact didn’t kill Roth, but the drowning took him. A week later, Roth’s corpse was found by harbor workers. Police ruled his death a suicide. Nina, still heartbroken, had Roth buried with money she earned through her shop.
In Heaven, Roth arrived well ahead of time. He was shown in, thinking he somehow made it. Roth’s delusions were soon crushed, as he was put on trial. A committee of angels decided Roth’s fate, while his guardian Angel defended him. For prosecution, Dearie made the argument for Roth’s damnation. The committee sided with Dearie, much to Roth’s horror. Out of desperation, Roth blindly thought he could escape the courtroom. At the door, he was greeted by an Exorcist.
The Exorcist subdued Roth, dragging him away as he screamed and begged. He was soon thrown into Hades, into Hell.
In Hell, Roth was surprised. It wasn’t the inferno described by Dante, but a world of excess and vice. It reminded Roth of New York’s seedier parts, all condensed into one and overexposed. But Roth was still frightened beyond belief. Even more so, he was horrified by his demonic appearance. In his first few weeks into eternal damnation, Roth once again became a fervent follower of Christ. Though, he soon accepted that his prayers of rescue could never be answer. Alone, with just his grit and gut-instinct, Roth survived.
In 1983, Roth landed a job with The Gehenna Cab Company, one which provided enough to afford his own apartment. He found friends, he even found love. That love being Maple Kovacs, an erotic dancer who dreamed about becoming a song writer. Maple worked at Club Ice, owned and operated by Eduardo, an iguana demon.  Together, Roth and Maple had a fun and romantic life together.
This was not for long.
In 1987, Eduardo was “convinced” into selling Club Ice to Valentino. He was later found dead in his apartment, by an apparent overdose. Valentino now owned the club, including every single contract. He sought to make sure his new “employees” stayed loyal.  Soon, Valentino was informed about Roth’s relationship with Maple. Seeing Roth as an unnecessary distraction for Maple, Valentino sent his problem solver to educate Roth. It was here Roth first met Robert Milhaud, the man who would ruin his life again.
Arriving home one late night, Roth and Maple were greeted by Robert and his associates. Despite fighting back, Roth and Maple were both subdued. Forced to watch, Roth was beaten nearly to death in front of Maple. Taking Maple to Valentino, Robert warned Roth that if he continues his relationship with Maple, he will hurt her. Roth despite loving Maple, choose ending the relationship rather than risking her death.  Over the next couple of weeks, Roth received call after call from Maple, begging Roth to see her.
Roth ignored every message, not wanting to risk her safety.
On Extermination Day, of 1989, Maples apartment ( her prison ) was destroyed by Adam’s exterminators. Though Maple was never found, it was assumed she died. Roth couldn’t attend the funeral but watched from afar. He felt nothing but hatred towards Valentino, for what he had done. More than anything, he hated himself for what he allowed. He failed Maple. Just as he failed so many people before.
In 1992, Roth was growing more and more resentful towards Hell. He wanted desperately to escape. There was nothing left, no future, no peace down below. It was around this time; Roth had a chance encounter with Vincent Andras. Demonstrating a simple magic trick, Vincent connected with Roth and eventually brought him to Ultima Discordia. The group were dedicated practitioners of chaos magick. Vincent Andras, a man stepped in the new wave of occult knowledge during the 1970s, wanted to share his knowledge with Roth. Perhaps, even, a way to escape Hell.  All he wanted was Roth’s unquestioning loyalty.
Roth accepted his offer. Willingly.
In the coming years, Roth studied under Vincent Andras, with both men becoming close friends. Yet, slowly, and surely, Roth started questioning how genuine his friend was. Andras was determined, caring little about the personal dangers of magic. This drive for knowledge withered the collective sanity and health of the cult. Discussions soon turned to arguments, as Roth and Vincent’s relationship was strained. In 1995, the cult came into possession an ancient Tibetan Scroll, named ཨ་ཀོ་ཧ་ཐི་ཡི་སྒོ་མོ། , or Doors of Agharti, contained thirty intricate Mandalas. Vincent explained that “Doors of Agharti” was their key to freedom. A doorway to the realm of ultimate peace. After four years of grueling work, they finally translated the scroll.
Om October 25th, 1998, the cult underwent the ritual to reach Agharti. The journey was harsh, as Vincent, Roth and the cult suffered both hunger and hallucinations. Yet, after so much suffering, the final mandala was reached.
The ritual failed.
All laws of reality were made void. Something arrived, something hungry. During the confusion, insanity and ravenous violence, Vincent and Roth managed to escape. Despite their fear and weakened mental states, they knew they must seal the doorway. Miraculously,   they managed to seal the doorway, sending whatever came back through. Yet, the price for this victory was steep. The cult was dead, with Vincent and Roth being the only survivors.
Both men blamed each other for the disaster. Roth rebukes Vincent, swearing he will never work with him again. Severa days later, Roth suffered an acute nervous breakdown, screaming about “Thousands and Thousands of Teeth”. He was admitted into psychiatric help, at The Walter Freeman Memorial Hospital. There, Roth was eventually diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder.
From 1998 to 2002, Roth was given the help he needed to resume a normal life. It was around this time, he met Guns Akimbo, a mercenary and gun dealer based on Pride. Guns Akimbo was instrumental in arming Gehenna Cabs during the “Great Cab War” of 2003, which saw widespread violence through Pentagram City. The event was even covered by Alastor, with great amusement.
Afterwards, Roth and Guns assumed a sexual relationship, that blossomed into romance. Unfortunately, their conflicting personalities caused their breakup. They remain on rather hostile terms.
Now, in 2024, Roth Kruger is still trying to escape Hell. He believes that through magic, he can defy Lucifer, Heaven and everyone who ever doubted him.
But, then again, his magic comes at a price. His own sanity is slowly and surely being drained. Resulting in Roth becoming more and more unhinged.
There’s also on important Rule, Roth has broken in magic.
A knocked door cannot be unknocked.

@GENOMED: extremely private & low activity portrayal of a horror oc known as sienna aquino. est. 2018, rebooted in 2024. crafted by sean - 22 - he/him - cdt. previously legiate. more information beneath the cut.
heavy trigger warnings for: serial killers, cannibalism, horror, abuse, etcetera.
RULES: very low activity/chill space. sienna's an original character i've written for years, primarily within the fallout universe, but this is a rendition of her modernized verse. all other verses are available upon request. expect mature + adult themes/triggering content. i also write sienna through the lens of an antagonist— you're not meant to like her! you can get a better idea of her characterization/what to expect here!
BIOGRAPHY: sienna aquino / she+they / 26-50 / bisexual, heavy preference to women / genomics technician / located in california. ‎‎‎ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ㅤㅤㅤ//////////// raised in the hearty embrace of purecliff, a small tightly-knit community in northern arizona, sienna's childhood was a tapestry of idyllic memories. this serenity was shattered at age 8 when a crime syndicate, masquerading as a legitimate business, infiltrated the town with the opening of a shopping mall. the town, once a picturesque symbol of suburban tranquility, began to morph under the syndicate's influence, echoing the urban sprawl of downtown phoenix. the syndicate's arrival marked the beginning of a harrowing era. men of the town, including sienna's father, started to disappear mysteriously— leaving behind a community of women & children to face an uncertain future. the shadow of this menacing gang loomed over purecliff for years, until a fateful intervention by the national guard. this liberation, though well-intentioned by the us government, came at a great cost of civilian lives— including the life of sienna's mother. in the aftermath, 14-year-old sienna found herself navigating the complexities of the foster care system. with the streets as her refuge more often than her foster homes, she gravitated towards gang activities & the ability to provide a life for herself. by 18, her life was punctuated by multiple arrests, shifting from juvenile detention to facing prison time for attempted assault. however, due to a combination of government rehabilitation initiatives and a lawsuit filed by the state of arizona on behalf of purecliff's survivors, sienna's path took a transformative turn. her sentence was reduced in exchange for her commitment to pursue higher education & engage in community service. released at age 20, she embarked on a new journey at ucla. upon earning her master's degree in science at age 26 with a focus on genetics and genomes, sienna became a genomics technician at the parker lab in caltech. despite her remarkable turnaround, her past cast a long, inescapable shadow. as sienna's career flourished, a troubling pattern emerged: an unsettling number of geneticists in california began to vanish. while sienna had seemingly reinvented her life, whispers and suspicions arose, questioning the true extent of her transformation.
CHARACTERIZATION INSPIRATIONS: amy dunne from gone girl, annie graham from hereditary, danica harlan from altered carbon, nina sayers from black swan, serena joy from the handmaid's tale, the bride from kill bill, cersei lannister from game of thrones.

Round 2, Match 25: Xie Lian vs. Takashi “Shiro” Shirogane
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Submitted kids:
Xie Lian: Ban Yue, Pei Xiu, Lang Ying, Lian Quianqiu, Gu Zi, Lang Ying
Shiro: Pidge, Hunk, Keith, Lance
Propaganda under the cut!
Xie Lian:
1. “a several centuries old disgraced god who keeps somehow getting mixed up in things that have nothing to do with him and taking in random kids in the process. Got dragged into being a soldier in a war between kingdoms he's not even from? suddenly single dad to these two random kids caught up in between. dealing with a malicious ghost who has been killing brides? boom, now he has a ghost son whose previous guardian was killed by the malicious ghost. psychotic ghost cousin posses the body of a man with a young son and continues being a piece of shit? well i guess your taking care of that kid too now (i know guzi is technically qi rong's kid since he's the one possessing his actual dad but if it weren't for xie lian intervening when he did the kid would be dead so he kinda counts too)”
2. "Xie Lian saves a young LQQ from being kidnapped, returns him home and end up becoming the/his grand tutor(which was NOT his original plan at all).
While I’m not sure how much this one counts, especially since by the end his cousin ends up caring for GZ, but he still does the best he can to feed and care for the boy as his entire life changes."
No propaganda has been submitted for Shiro

Roth's new bio ( VER-1 )
Hey, I'm just working on revising Roth's bio. So please, give me some time and read this if you want. I would love to have feedback.
Slowly and surely, Roth got his bearings around Pentagram City. By wits and gut instinct, he survived.
In 1983, Roth landed a job with The Gehenna Cab Company, one which provided enough to afford his own apartment. To this day, he still works for Gehenna Cabs, mostly by doing the bare minimum. Still, to this day, Roth remains the same mordacious jerk that was damned. Still, a sleazy scumbag, who blames others for his own problems.
There’s more however, than meets the eye.
Roth, however, isn’t any ordinary Sinner.  In Hell, Roth has learned many forms of magic, most notably Chaos Magick. He’s adept with black magic and will use it to his advantage. Though limited by the rules of magic, Roth is dangerous.
But, then again, his magic comes at a price. His own sanity is slowly and surely being drained. Resulting in Roth becoming more and more unhinged.
There’s also on important Rule, Roth has broken in magic.
A knocked door cannot be unknocked.

FAKING YOUR DEATH TO AVOID THE IRS: DOES IT WORK?
How far will you go to avoid paying your taxes? Cas Tiel, Employee 432 and newly deceased has it all figured out!
“The IRS can’t charge you when you’re dead.” The employee would have said if he answered our first question. “So I figured, hey why not fake my own death?”
As far as we know, the IRS has not found a way to arrest Cas yet, but whether this is because he’s dead or because they aren’t aware the Office exists is up for debate.
“Being dead is also a great way to avoid going to your own wedding!” Cas implied very heavily in one of his answers.
He has been proposed to by local playboy and serial killer Rex Sovereign and their romance had captured the hearts of employees and Narrators alike Office wide - yet it seems that Cas had other plans!
Runaway brides are so out of fashion, there was only one way to hide from the tax collectors - and his husband to be. Between their last talk and the time when they were supposed to be reciting their vows, Employee 432 died.
What a dramatic way to say I don’t (want to marry you / pay my taxes)!
Although he warns against doing what he did, saying that death is NOT fun!
“There's too many negatives in that. It's not fun, that's what I'm trying to say.”
As of today there is a rescue attempt to get Cas back from whatever hell he had found himself in, but it has made little progress in the last few weeks. We will update you, as the story develops, only on Tattle Tales!

I have this idea for a movie that's like. Advertised as a romcom but is actually sci-fi/horror/thriller/dark comedy or something like that.
Because I'm high and don't wanna confuse myself for the explanation I'm using a bride and a groom and the bride has a maid of honor who is her best friend and the groom has a brother he's close with who is his best man. This movie would be fun with different genders and relationship dynamics but I get confused about which bride or whose bridesmaid were talking about for the wedding for which i am the best of honor/bitch of honor/best bitch/other gender neutral title you like for one of the brides' main party person. (I like best of honor but i digress).
Anyway the best man and maid of honor don't really like each other to begin with and you get the vibe that a lot of people don't necessarily approve of the match.
Act 1 the couple gets serious and seemingly proves their love enough that everyone seems happy when they get engaged except the BM and MoH. It ends with the engagement after both the BM and MoH are nice to the groom's face but try to talk the bride out of it and prevent the engagement.
Act 2 they are planning the wedding for almost all of it. The MoH and BM seem to alternate incredibly between being supportive and being critical going as far as to seemingly outright sabotage the wedding. As the wedding gets nearer more and more people are acting cagey about the wedding and going as far as to in some cases resort to kinds of sabotage. Act 2 ends with the couple on the altar in the process of getting married when something dramatic happens and the Best Man gets mortally wounded or killed saving the bride.
It is so important for acts 1 and 2 that we only get the main couple's perspective.
In act 3 it is revealed that the best man and maid of honor have been living in a different genre since mid-act 1. For them some kind of terrifying serial killer or supernatural force or invading aliens or deranged time Traveller- has been trying to prevent the marriage using potentially lethal force and/or kill the main couple. After realizing what was going on they tried to deal with it without the couple finding out because they decided -together- that after everything the couple went through trying to prove their love in act one they deserved to have a nice wedding. Throughout act 2 more and more people got involved to keep the couple from finding out and keep them alive and hopefully getting married.
We don't need every moment told but we get sinister undertones to what happened before. Like when the MoH was weird at the cake tasting she wasn't trying to make the groom miserable she was keeping them from trying his choice because it was cursed or poisoned or made from human flesh or something. The best man attacked the florist because there was a big snake or he was an ace murderer or because those flowers would complete the ritual. Depending how dark you wanna go the shenanigans can have just some extra darker layers or you can totally ruin what before seemed like harmless gags by making them horrifying.
You can end the movie at this moment making act three end back in the present at the same time as act two and leaving the ending up to interpretation. Or act three can include a battle or an arrest or dramatic reveal to show us the rest of the wedding and also the rest of the other genre film we kind of just jumped into. But that's the idea.

I spent my whole Sunday figuring out the Amell family tree for my personal canon. I know the image quality is shit, so if this post interests you at all, you can find a summary under the cut 😊👍
Bioware canon is a contradictory mess when it comes to figuring out a timeline for this clan. I use the Amell family Codex entry as a starting point, but it talks about Aristide Amell being considered for Viscount after Perrin Threnhold’s arrest, which took place in 9:21 Dragon. According to Gamlen and Leandra’s discussion in the game regarding their parents’ will, Aristide Amell (their father) died the same year the twins were born (9:11), which means he would have been dead for a decade when Threnhold was arrested.
Another thing that is established in the lore, is that infants aren’t born able to cast. According to the Wiki: “Magic is considered an innate ability but it's not apparent from birth. Magical talent typically surfaces around puberty, though the age of onset falls within a wide range.”
If Revka’s child manifesting magic “was the start of the family’s misfortune,” the kid would have had to be at least grade-school age by the time Leandra met Malcolm Hawke. I know the DAO protag is supposed to be “young” (my Surana and Aeducan are) but Amell is the same age as Anders, i.e. early thirties at the start of DAO.
My headcanon for Leandra and Malcolm’s courtship deviates somewhat from the account in Dragon Age: The World of Thedas Volume 2 and their corresponding wiki articles linked above, because:
There are conflicting accounts in the game and in the codex, here and here, regarding Malcolm’s activities leading up their elopement and;
In my personal canon, Malcolm is of Chasind origin and spent enough time with his tribe to learn the culture before being taken by templars during a raid.
This has a massive impact on Hawke’s upbringing and views on magic and is (imo) just plain cooler than Bioware’s version  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Aristide Amell: born 8:41 of the Blessed Age in the Thedas timeline, died in 9:11 Dragon at age 70 due to cholera. Leandra says it was a week after the Hawke twins were born. Incidentally, Leandra would have been 27 and Gamlen 23.
Bethann Amell, née Walker: born 8:58 Blessed, died a year after her husband in 9:12 Dragon at the age of 54. Gamlen says it was of a broken heart. My headcanon is that Aristide married late and took a young bride to secure an heir. Bethann would have been 26 when Leandra was born, and Aristide 43. Aristide’s younger brother, Fausten, married young on the other hand, and this is why there is such a huge age gap between the cousins on either side.
Fausten Amell: born in 8:43 Blessed, date of death is not known, but it happened at some point before Revka disappeared in 9:08 Dragon, which places him in his early to mid 60s. Fausten’s wife is never mentioned and it doesn’t really impact my canon, so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Damion Amell: born in 8:67 Blessed when his dad (Fausten) was 24. It’s not clear when exactly Damion went to jail for smuggling. Assuming it happened between 9:03 and 9:07 Dragon, he would have been in his mid-30s. Leandra and Gamlen would have been in their teens in the 8:90′s when all the family’s problems were starting to spiral.
Revka Amell: born in 8:71. She married Quentin Vass, a scholar from Starkhaven, 5 years her junior. According to rumour, Revka was pressured into the marriage due to her suitor’s wealth, even though the origins of his fortune were quite the mystery. Quentin, a commoner, was eager to take the Amell name, ostensibly due to the family’s aristocratic status. He claimed that “sacrificing” his own ancestry would ensure that children born of the union would inherit their mother’s title and standing. In truth, however, Quentin’s motives for a change of name were far more sinister. In 9:34, Quentin would be exposed as a dangerous apostate and serial killer, responsible for the murder of Revka’s cousin, Leandra, and several other affluent women over the course of many years.
Whether Revka ever knew that she’d wedded a Maleficar remains unknown, but gossip abounds. Whispers linger that the couple’s marriage was unhappy and contributed greatly to the deterioration of Revka’s mental state. According to official records, Revka “disappeared” in 9:08 when the couple’s fifth child, Aelswith, was only two years old. Revka herself would have been 37 and Quentin 32 at the time.
Those few who remained close to Revka in spite of her many misfortunes, insist that she was nothing if not a devoted mother. The accepted conclusion, namely that she’d abandoned her three children not yet identified as magi and taken into the Circle’s custody, is unthinkable to these sources and they are convinced that Quentin had a hand in her vanishing.
Quentin Amell, né Vass: born in 8:76 and killed by Hawke in 9:34, aged 58.
Osmond Amell: Revka and Quentin’s first born child and only son was born in 8:93. He was discovered to be a mage at the age of 10 and taken to the Kirkwall Circle in 9:03, commencing a cascade of scandals that would rock the foundations of House Amell’s status and legacy. In the normal course, mages are not housed in the same city where their family resides. This policy is enforced to dissuade escape attempts, however, due to the Amells’ standing, an exception was made for Oswald. It is rumoured that his mother maintained correspondence with him until shortly before her disappearance, and even visited him in secret.
Assuming Osmond remained in the Kirkwall Circle, he would be 44 in 9:37 when Knight-Captain Meredith Stannard calls for the Right of Annulment.
Eadlin Amell: Revka and Quentin’s second child and first daughter, born in 8:95. Her magic was discovered in 9:07, four years after her brother was taken. She was 12 years old when the templars came for her. She was initially housed in the Kirkwall Circle along with her sibling, but accusations of nepotism, combined with the Amells’ declining influence, resulted in her being relocated to a Circle in Orlais. There’s every chance she’s acquainted with Vivienne de Fer as they are of the same generation and share a disposition of sophisticated grit.
Aleria Amell: born in the freezing cold on the 13th day of Wintermarch in 8:99, Revka and Quentin’s third child has always been a survivor.
She was only 4 years old in 9:03 Dragon when Osmond was taken – barely out of infancy, but old enough to witness and recall the fallout of her brother’s departure, her baby sister, Therese’s frighteningly early arrival and her mother’s lengthy recovery. In 9:07 Dragon, at the age of 8, the loss of her older sister, Eadlin, with whom she’d grown close, was quite traumatising. The household was still able to afford servants, albeit of the sort not repelled by a family afflicted with two magi offspring in succession. Aleria, ever dutiful and now the eldest, became the de facto caregiver to 4-year-old Therese and 2-year-old Aelswith, last of Revka and Quentin’s children, born in 9:05 Dragon, all the while watching as her mother’s sanity slipped away.
In 9:08 Dragon, less than a full year after the loss of her older sister, 9-year-old Aleria’s mother vanished from her life as well.
Due to the quick succession of painful losses, Aleria’s childhood was marked by a terrible fear of magic. Even as a little girl, she devoted a great deal of time to religious contemplation and study, begging the Maker’s forgiveness for her family’s sins and praying that the “curse” which had claimed two of her siblings would spare the rest.
A few months after her mother’s disappearance – coinciding with the inquiry into the matter being turned over to the templars for investigation in place of the Guard – Quentin relocated to Starkhaven. Upon arrival in the city in the winter of 9:08 Dragon, he deposited his daughters into the custody of a man identified simply as their hitherto unmentioned “uncle,” and left without so much as a farewell.
In 9:10 Dragon, Aleria’s younger sister, Therese, became the third of her siblings to come into her mana at the unusually young age of 7. Like Oswald and Eadlin before her, little Therese was torn from Aleria’s life suddenly and quietly, cloistered behind the walls of the Starkhaven Circle – in the same city as her family, contrary to Chantry dictates. Unlike her brother, Oswald, however, the breach in protocol was due to the Starkhaven Knight-Commander’s indifference rather than awe. Between the walls of the pious Vael family’s Principality, the name “Amell” carried no weight.
It was three years later, in 9:13 Dragon, that Aleria herself was escorted by boat to Kinloch Hold in Ferelden. The templars were called after her “uncle” informed her that she was to be carted off to Nevarra to wed to a 51-year-old “business contact” of his, and found himself engulfed in flames. Aleria was 14 at the time. Why Aleria was relocated as per protocol instead of simply thrust into the Starkhaven Circle – where she could have reunited with her sister – was unknown, though the force with which her magic manifested might well have reignited the Knight-Commander’s enthusiasm for convention.
In Ferelden, she worried over the fate of her youngest sister and continued to blame the destruction of her family on magic, living in a state of self-loathing withdrawal. After being befriended by another apprentice named Anders, her resentment turned upon the Circle itself. The two grew closer as they matured. Their friendship became briefly intimate – an experience that confirmed Aleria amorous preference for women. As time passed, the dangers of Circle politics and Anders' reputation as a troublemaker, compelled Aleria to distance herself, but her fondness for her first fried remained. She became aware of Anders' affair with an older mage, Karl Thekla, and followed his example, engaging in discreet trysts with other apprentices. Unlike Anders, she feared the consequences of attempting to escape, but admired his tenacity.
She kept her burgeoning rebellious streak hidden, presenting a facade of content obedience. In 9:17, after only four years' instruction, she passed her Harrowing at the age of 18. She showed an aptitude for primal magic and, as a fully-fledged mage, her studies vested in this school.
In 9:30, at the age of 31, Aleria was recruited to join the ranks of the Grey Wardens, along with a young elven mage named Eríst of the Ferelden Circle and the first dwarf of her acquaintance. Valdrin, as the dwarf introduced himself, would later be revealed to be an exiled prince of Orzammar.
It was Aleria who cast the spell that killed the Archdemon, earning her the moniker, “Hero of Ferelden.” She survived the Blight and was awarded the title Constable of the Grey, acting as Valdrin Aeducan’s second in command at the Weisshaupt Fortress.
Therese Amell: born was born prematurely in 9:03, likely due to the stress of her elder brother, Osmond’s removal from the household. In 9:10 Dragon, she became the youngest of the Amell children to come into her mana at only 7 years of age. She was the third sibling of her family line to be taken by the templars. Since her “uncle,” was simply a “guardian,” and her siblings considered “foreigners,” the typical protocol of housing mages in Circles distant from their kin was considered not worth the effort of arranging. She would reside in the Starkhaven Circle until it’s destruction in 9:31.
Nicknamed Terrie, she was 28 when she (unknowingly) encountered her cousin, Wreath Hawke, while hiding on the Wounded Coast with the other Starkhaven mages tuned apostate, fearing the rumoured brutality of the Kirkwall Circle.
With Hawke’s aid, she managed to escaped. Unlike her fellows, she successfully evaded recapture and, like her cousin, carves out a life as an apostate.
Aelswith Amell: born in 9:05, Aelswith was the last of the Amell children to manifest magic. It happened a year after her elder sister, Aleria, was taken to Ferelden. Aelswith was 9 years old when she was taken to the Circle at Ostwick. She would later meet a fellow apprentice from a local noble family named Lysander Trevelyan, but the two were never friends.
Leandra Amell: born in 8:84 Blessed. She arrived so soon after her parents’ wedding that there were whispers about her conception hastening the ceremony, but Aristide and Bethann’s joy would not be overshadowed by wagging tongues. At 43, Aristide had been a bachelor for so long that many wondered how he would adjust to family life, but he proved to be a doting father and husband.
In 9:00 Dragon, when Leandra was 16, talk began of a betrothal to Guillaume de Launcet, the 22-year-old heir to his father’s title in Orlais and holdings in Kirkwall. Leandra, an intelligent and open-minded girl, was quietly horrified at the idea. The De Launcets were traditional to the extreme and Leandra had no interest in being dragged into the Grand Game, which persisted among the Orlesian nobility, even while residing Kirkwall.
Since childhood, Leandra held a deep fascination for magic and all things related to the Fade. With no talent of her own, her interested was academic and considered mostly harmless by her father. After all, Leandra was a dutiful daughter and a sensible girl. She would never do anything rash or disgraceful.
In 9:02 (a year before Osmond’s magic was discovered) Aristide surprised his daughter with a magical demonstration by mages sent from the local Circle as part of the celebration of her 18th name day. Leandra was captivated by the display... and intrigued by one mage in particular.
If Legacy is played while Leandra is alive, this conversation happens:
Hawke: How did the heir to the Amells meet a Ferelden apostate, anyway?
Carver: Not by prowling the sewers, I hope (lmao 😂)
Leandra: He wasn’t an apostate then. He was a Junior Enchanter in the Gallows. I’d always thought mages were grim old men in strange robes, but Malcolm was... he was young, strong, never considered himself anything but the equal of every man there. And they all knew it and hated him for it.
It was with curt civility that the clearly Chasind mage introduced himself as Malcolm Hake – the only one of his fraternity to do so. Leandra’s eager attempts to speak with his brethren had resulted in nothing but obsequious well wishes, followed by a brisk, bowing retreat. Not Malcolm.
He met the stares of Kirkwall’s assembled aristocracy, holding the gaze of each until their eyes darted nervously away. Years later, he would confide that when Leandra approached him, brimming with earnest, marveling curiosity, he had hoped that his aloof, unimpressed decorum would frighten her off as well. Malcolm, however, was not the only one present at that fateful gathering with a penchant for dancing on the knife’s edge of proprietary.
Excited to finally converse with a shaper of the Fade, Leandra would not be deterred. As yet naive of the brutal truth of Circle “recruitment,” she strove to break the ice with an inquiry into the length of Malcolm’s “tenure” with the Kirkwall Circle. The answer he gave surprised her: ten years, a mere decade, “conscripted,” as he put it, from the Korcari Wilds as a boy of 15. Intrigued, Leandra continued to pepper him with questions. Some of the things she’d asked... the insensitivity of her prying would dawn on her much later, yet Malcolm had answered, perhaps sensing the absence of mockery or malice behind her intent. By the end of the evening, Leandra had managed to coax the stern man’s full mouth into a semblance of smile, igniting fire in her cheeks.
And thus, an affair was kindled that would change the course of history...
My headcanon is that Malcolm was already planning his escape from the Kirkwall Circle when he met Leandra at the party. He followed through with this course shortly after their meeting, joining a mercenary company to scrape together the resources to return to Ferelden. Leandra had intrigued him, however, and against judgment and sense, Malcolm began a correspondence with her that continued over the next three years.
In 9:05 Dragon, thoroughly aware of Leandra’s growing anxiety over her unwanted betrothal, Malcolm steered the company to accept a job in Kirkwall. Rationalising every step as he approached the city, his self-deception shattered as Leandra ran to him at their pre-arranged meeting place, and he found his arms enfolding her in a tight embrace. Leandra fell pregnant that night and a few weeks later, the couple eloped with the Larius’ dubious “aid.” Leandra was 21 and Malcolm 28. They spoke their own vows and exchanged rings, but were never legally wed. Vows spoken under false names would void any marriage officiated by the Chantry, and the risk of wedding under their true identities was simply too great.
This means that all the Hawke children are illegitimate, which is why not even Carver can lay official claim to his grandfather’s title.
In 9:27, 22 years after their departure from Kirkwall, Malcolm is killed by templars en route to the Highever market. 21-year-old Wreath is with him and is able to return his body to the family for cremation. Malcolm was 50 when he died -- the same age as Leandra would be in 9:34 when she is killed by Quentin.
The history of the Amell-Hawke branch of the family is covered extensively in the game. I don’t have much to add to the Amell-Hawke children’s stories, except to say that I love the detail about cousin Damion being accused of smuggling and Uncle Fausten bankrupting himself to try and clear his name. It adds a hint of poetic irony to  my smuggler apostate Hawke being the one to restore the fortunes of a family destroyed by magic and smuggling. The Amells were upstanding, law-abiding folk and it ruined them. Enter an illegitimate, career-criminal son of an apostate and the Amells’ fortunes are restored... for a time at least.
(Also, as a history nerd, this bit of lore deserves points for historical accuracy, because that's how the nobility handled things back in Plantagenet UK, which Kirkwall is apparently based on. Reputation was everything. If you were charged with a crime, it was expected that you would risk everything to clear your name, even if the punishment for the crime wasn't even that bad).

Hannibal/Will fic ideas dump: Part 2
These fic ideas are very flushed out so beware the are longer. Basically I don't have time to write them. I used to write all the time and now with no where to go, the stories haunt me.
1. Dracula Hannibal - Humans and all other manner of 'kin, coexist together peacefully and are overseen by a council, with representatives from every group keeping the peace. Hannibal once sat on the council being the original Vampire, but has since left to let others handle the task. He doesn't even like to admit it himself but for the last century he has noticed a dramatic decline in his strength no matter how much blood he drinks. He accepts his time is drawing to a close and he prepares to quietly fade away as all creatures evidently do, when a man(?) comes knocking at his door. "Sorry to bother you Count Lecter. I'm Special Agent Graham. I am here at the request of one of your...daughters." "And what was her request?" "To save your li- to give you my blood." "And what do you get out of fulfilling her request?" "An answer to why I keep hearing your voice in my head Count Lecter."
2. Reaper Gene- Years ago a deadly plague covered the Earth. Using combination of faith, science and magic, humanity stopped the plague but they went too far. All death stopped, but injuries and pain didn't. Bodies still had to heal, still aged but death doesn't come. Eventually the Reaper Gene is discovered. To die, someone with the gene has to make skin to skin contact with the person to end a life. Even so, the gene is incredibly rare. Every known current murder is tested, since regular people, even if they have the gene, can't stomach death easily. Hannibal, who is in jail but not yet sentenced has the gene. In light of his now rare talent, he is pardoned but to receive that pardon he is forced into the now humanitarian service of ending lives. But death is a lonely business. No one wants to be around the only thing that can kill them. Hannibal spirals into a depression working long hours and only just barely taking care of himself. After 3 years, killing alone and miserable, Will darkens his doorway. "I need you, Hannibal." "Get on the list like everyone else. I owe you no favors." "I said I need you, not your...skill." "You cannot pay the fee for my service, whatever your need is Special Agent Graham. Now I have work to do-" "What's your price?" "Unbreak my heart."
3. Abigail AU- After catching Freddie at the Hobbs house, the officers on site do a thorough extra sweep of the house and arrest Nicholas Boyle for trespassing. Abigail is seen by everyone as a victim, forced to help her father to stay alive. After she completes her therapy, Hannibal extends an offer to adopt her, if she is agreeable to the idea. She knows Hannibal is using her mostly to spend time with Will ("You just need to ask him out Hannibal.") but free college, a mansion to live in and lots of time with dogs she doesn't have to care for all the time is hard to pass up. And if Hannibal's cooking tastes familiar who is she to judge?
4. Teach Me - After they've fallen off the radar in a small cuban port city but still in the process of reconnecting and recovering, Hannibal starts helping out at a small Cafe, and Will starts offering boating and fishing courses across the street at the Marina. Hannibal is thrilled because he loved hearing Will teach his FBI classes, and so he takes the opportunity to bring Will an early lunch everyday, just to listen. Will doesn't catch on and instead changes his schedule thinking they could spend some time together. Hannibal takes the change in schedule as Will doesn't want him hanging around so he just brings Will his food and leaves. Will takes this as the other man's rejection and he starts pulling away from Hannibal at home. Will starts offering personal one on one classes to stay busy and preparing for Hannibal to leave him and be on his own. Hannibal starts spying on Will and he catches him with another man, close to Hannibal's age, flirting and sharing soft touches. Hannibal snaps and kills the man before he realizes what he's doing and he falls to his knees before Will. "You are the cruel siren I deserve, but you do not have rocks below you to end my suffering against." "'Cruel siren'?! Hannibal! You lured me in and then got tired of me!" "Never!" "So you didn't start ignoring me when I specifically made time so we could share lunch together?" "What? You made it clear you didn't want me at your classes!" "I made it so you didn't have to be bored listening to me!" "I came early specificly to listen to you teach!"
5. Bride Hannibal- Hannibal of course wanted a big fancy wedding, but now being a well known serial killer and having Will 'that would require me to be social' Graham as a partner, Hannibal quietly decides to just try and be happy with what he has, since Will actually loving him back was more than he could have hoped for. Will can tell something is off with Hannibal. He's been toying with the idea of asking Hannibal to marry him and for once he wants to be seen. Hundreds of people, staff and friends, a live video stream...he wants the world to see him, happy for once, with his dangerous and handsome husband. He knows Hannibal loves a party and must have ideas but every time Will gets the wedding conversation started Hannibal contributes but is despondent or at least isn't contributing like he usually would. Will eventually stumbles across a scrap book in Hannibal's study filled to bursting with scraps of fabric, magazine clippings, recipes, vows...so Will secretly sets to work on the Wedding they both obviously want.
6. Arranged Royal Marriage- Prince Hannibal (late 20's) has never felt the sting of cupids arrow. His father, worried for their country's growth and prosperity and his line, summons every proper suitor far and wide to Lithuania to finally get Hannibal married. Thousands of suitors arrive, thinking if they don't find a match in Hannibal they can find a match among the other guests. Hannibal finds all the parties and events enjoyable but non-productive and sneaks away at night to the royal gardens. One night he finds another man in his usual spot but decides to stay as long as the other man isn't there for conversation. They spend a surprising easy silence together and Hannibal is shocked to find himself feeling drawn to the man even with no words yet spoken between them. Unfortunately for Hannibal, by the looks of the man's simple attire he is likely a royal servant or a chaperone, not a suitor. But the man, King William Graham of the Lakeland realms, Father of Wolves, is a suitor...he's just not very good at communication, or at being Royalty. As interesting as Hannibal is, why would a prince like him choose a fisherman and houndsman King like Will?
